What we collect
When you scan your fridge or produce drawer, the photo is sent to Google's Gemini Vision API for analysis — we don't store those images on our own servers. We also store your app preferences (name, dietary needs, shopping habits, and similar settings) locally on your device, and a push notification token if you enable alerts.
What we don't collect
FreshSense doesn't require an account. We don't collect your email address, and we don't collect any personal identity information beyond what you optionally type into your preferences (like a first name), which stays on your device.
Third parties
We use two third-party services: Google's Gemini API, which analyzes your fridge photos to identify items and assess freshness — per Google's API terms, images are not retained by Google after processing — and Apple's push notification service, which delivers expiry and streak alerts to your device.
Data storage
All of your fridge contents, scan history, and preferences are stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to your fridge contents, your scan history, or your grocery lists — there is no FreshSense server that holds this data.
Your rights
Because everything is stored locally and no account exists, you're always in full control of your data. You can review, change, or clear any of it at any time from within the app.
Data deletion
Deleting the FreshSense app from your device deletes all of your data along with it — scan history, fridge contents, grocery lists, and preferences. There's nothing left behind on any server, because nothing was ever sent to one.
Children's privacy
FreshSense is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
